The 'project' Pentacaust formed back in spring 2008 where Nyck and James wanted to start a metal band. Both had been wanting to get into that vein of music for sometime and decided to really give it a shot. Starting under the name Echo Afire, Nyck and James had went through basically a full line-up change to what is now Pentacaust. First came Dan, an Ontario grown guitar phenom who moved to Nanoose Bay to live with his Aunt and Uncle while going to school in Nanaimo for his electrician ticket. Dan, not knowing anyone in the island area, searched the net for people to jam with and to find James who had a guitarist add out. Secondly, came Jay Smitka, a Nanaimo grown demon whose voice mimmicks the sound of a fist plowing through the chest of a werewolf. Jay was in a brief project with Nyck prior to Pentacaust and once we were looking for a new vocalist Nyck knew who to ask. Lastly came Bryn, also a Nanaimo grown demon boy who was also in Nyck and Jay's pre-pentacaust project. After an abrupt dismissal of Nyck and James' former drummer, they scrambled to get someone new, trying out various drummers seeking the style and dedication that each band member had in mind, having Bryn come out on top. This was the last piece to the Pentacaustal puzzle and the metal commenced! Here we are a whole year later with a growing bank of original tracks and handful of covers, Pentacaust is ready to bring the noise to a venue near You!
